SeeByte, the global leader in developing smart software solutions for uncrewed maritime systems, is looking to recruit a Software Engineer to join its team in its San Diego office.
You will be working as part of a world-renowned, expert engineering team with state-of-the-art maritime robots on a wide range of exciting projects involving global travel and at-sea experiments, with clear opportunities for development, training, and career progression. Main Purpose of the Role
You will work as part of an engineering project team to deliver robust and innovative technology solutions to SeeByte’s customers worldwide. Support and training will be provided to help you develop within the role and become a software engineering expert, developing exciting maritime robotic software systems.
Required skills:
· 0-3 years of relevant commercial experience following graduation.
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
· Experience designing, developing, and implementing modular software.
· Experience working in C++/C or Python on a Linux platform (e.g., Ubuntu).
· Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with external partners and clients.
· Willingness to support on-site client demonstrations and training.
· Some travel is required. Locations are typically within the U.S., but may be international. Individual trips may last up to three weeks.
· Ability to work safely and effectively aboard small boats while underway.
· Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. SECRET security clearance.
· Enthusiasm for learning new technologies.
Experience in or familiarity with at least some of the following areas is desirable:
· Autonomy and robotics
· Migrating ROS to ROS 2
· Managing real-time or near-real-time communication
· Testing distributed systems in simulation and on vehicles
· Robotics middleware (e.g., ROS, gRPC)
· Continuous delivery frameworks (e.g., GitLab)
· Use of current programming language features and libraries (e.g., Boost, OpenCV, C++17)
· Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
· Docker and Docker Compose
· Familiarity with CAN and serial communication protocols
· Automating application deployment and environment configuration management
· Software verification and deployment techniques
· Simulation, robotics, and machine learning techniques
· Agile software development methodologies
