SeeByte, the global leader in developing smart software solutions for uncrewed maritime systems, are looking for a Systems Engineer to join their team in their Edinburgh or Bristol office.

You can expect to become subject matter technical expert on SeeByte software in state-of-the-art maritime robotics used for exciting and varied projects, as well as supporting SeeByte clients to evaluate and to understand SeeByte’s software solutions. You will be a key member of the team in leading the Systems Engineering process to company and international standards for defined work packages, as well as providing technical leadership and mentorship to more junior engineers.

Applicants looking for a part-time position will be considered on a pro rata salary basis.

You will work as part of SeeByte’s engineering team to deliver robust and innovative technology solutions to SeeByte’s customers worldwide.  The Systems Engineering role will be customer focused and requires coordinating and communicating with various internal teams and client representatives to help deliver solutions to meet customer requirements.

The role will include but not be limited to use case analysis, requirements analysis, development and traceability, analysis of alternatives, system architecture and design, definition of interface specifications, development of test specifications from requirements, risk management, issue resolution report generation and management of deliverables.

Support and training will be given throughout to allow you to develop and grow in the role as required.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Systems Engineering (requirements development and traceability, system architecture and design, CONOPS, V&V processes) with experience of developing designs from requirements using a variety of toolsets.
  • 2 years’ experience in preparing and reviewing software documentation including interface and installation procedures.
  • 2 years’ experience preparing system & subsystem requirement specifications, interface requirements and test requirement documents derived from analysis of customer requirements.
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) including use of UML, SysML and / or AADL.
  • Ability to apply ‘Systems Thinking’.
  • Experience of technical writing.
  • Ability to interface comfortably with external clients, understand the voice of the customer and relay internally to sales and engineering teams.
  • Outgoing personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels in both verbal and written communication.
  • Willing to mentor other engineers and manage technical development in the company.
  • Willing to travel abroad to support on-site client demonstrations, integrating and testing SeeByte software.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills and technology.

The successful applicant must be comfortable with software engineering principles.

  • Prior experience managing / leading engineers at all levels
  • Prior experience working on UK Defence projects
  • Prior experience with ISO 15288
  • Development and delivery of commercial software applications
  • Organizational skills and track record of delivery for software solutions
  • MODAF familiarization

Successful candidates usually have a degree in Systems/Software/Ocean Engineering, or similar numerate discipline with a software engineering emphasis.
