SeeByte, global market leader in the development of smart software for unmanned maritime systems, are looking to recruit a Lead Software Engineer for a position within our team in our San Diego office. You can expect to be integrating SeeByte software onto state-of-the-art subsea robots used for exciting and varied projects and taking part in at-sea experiments. There will be opportunities to test and demonstrate SeeByte’s software solutions with our partners and clients, giving you the chance to see the real-world applications of the software you have helped create. You will interface regularly with our US Government and Commercial partners and clients, representing SeeByte in project planning and review meetings as well as providing technical sales and business development support. Main Purpose of the Role
The role will involve primarily working with SeeByte’s software products Neptune (Vehicle Autonomy Framework), SeeTrack v4 (Command and Control software for Unmanned Vehicles) and CoPilot (Dynamic Positioning software for ROV platforms). Training will be provided on all required systems.
Engineers will get the opportunity to work on projects providing robotic solutions for domains such as the commercial oil and gas industry and military mine counter measures. A significant portion of the role will involve supporting the US Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC) in San Diego with the testing, fixing, integrating and demonstrating of SeeByte software.
You will be comfortable demonstrating SeeByte’s software solutions to customers and partners and representing SeeByte in program and project review meetings. You will have excellent communication and organizational skills and will be able to prioritize, report and discuss issues with management. You will also be able to assist in writing technical proposals for new business and assisting SeeByte’s Sales team in presenting our software solutions to potential new customers. The role may also include the mentoring of other software engineers in the San Diego office.
Support and training will be given throughout to allow you to develop within the role.
The successful applicant must be familiar with software engineering principles and comfortable with the design, development, testing and integration of software using high level languages such as C++ and Java.
Experience in some of the following areas is also desirable:
- Systems Engineering
- Requirements Management
- Database management and GIS systems
- Web services
- Embedded real-time systems
- Formal software testing
Successful candidates usually have a degree in Electronic/Computer Science/Software Engineering, or similar numerate discipline with a software engineering emphasis. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial software development role.
- C++ and/or Java development for commercial software development and delivery
- Experience in programming on Linux and Windows systems
- Strong inter-personal and communication (written and oral) skills
- Proven organizational skills and a track record of delivery for software solutions.
- Willing to take part in at-sea trials, integrating and testing SeeByte software
- Willing to learn about unmanned systems and the domain that SeeByte operate in
